A. Residence Permit
It is a very good idea to study the website of the Danish Immigration Service www.nyidanmark.dk for all kind of information on what to do to have a residence permit.
a. Nordic citizens
Students from Nordic Countries need no residence permit. However, they must bring an Inter-Nordic certificate of change of address (Internordisk flyttebevis).
b. EU-citizens
Students from EU member countries need a residence permit if they stay more than 3 months.
I. You can apply for your residence permit after your arrival in Denmark 3 weeks before sthe study start. This is the normal procedure.
It is important that you get the residence permit immediately after your arrival in Denmark, since you cannot register with the authorities until this is done. Registration with the authorities is necessary for medical coverage under the Danish Health Service, to open a bank account, to have a taxation card etc.
You need:
- a form that can be downloaded from nyidanmark.dk or picked up in the EU Residence Office of Statsforvaltningen Hovedstaden
- 2 photos
- your passport
- the acceptance letter of Business Academy Copenhagen North
It will take about 2-3 months to get the permit.

c. Other nationalities
Students from other countries also need a residence permit if the stay exceeds three months. Applications must be submitted to the Danish Embassy or Consulate in your home country at least 3 months before you leave for Denmark.
You need:
- a form that can be downloaded from nyidanmark.dk
- 2 photos
- your passport
- the acceptance letter of Business Academy Copenhagen North
B. Visa
Students that come from a non-EU country need a visa. Check with the Danish Embassy or Consulate in your home country if you are in doubt.
